Empowering Ohio Deputy Registrars

What is an Ohio Deputy Registrar?

In Ohio, Deputy Registrar offices are essential service providers contracted by the state to operate Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) locations. These offices handle key vehicle and driver services, including vehicle registrations, driver’s licenses, ID issuance, and title processing.

While Deputy Registrar offices operate under state supervision, they are privately managed by local individuals, county clerks of court, county auditors, or non-profit associations. This unique structure ensures a community-focused approach, bringing essential BMV services closer to residents while maintaining state oversight for quality and compliance.

Who is ODRA?

The Ohio Deputy Registrars Association (ODRA) is a community of Deputy Registrars dedicated to supporting one another through knowledge exchange, resource collaboration, open communication, and strong advocacy. Together, we work to preserve and strengthen Ohio’s Deputy Registrar system, ensuring that Ohio residents receive the highest quality of customer service and essential BMV services across the state.
